Cherry trees can be propagated from cherry pits, but it is a long drawn out process. Because cherries are haploids the trees grown from pits do not breed true, but if you want the young trees can be used as rootstock for grafting existing varieties too. Trees raised from seed are the source of new breeds of cherry trees.

Wandering cheese is a phenomena that has been known since cheese was invented. Some of this wandering cheese is caused by a bug called a Thrip, but others that wander around are caused be infestations of maggots. It is against the law to sell cheese with inhabitants in most civilized countries, but man being what he is often causes cheese to have inhabitants anyway as a methor of improving the taste of the cheese.

Lutefisk is a traditional dish of the Nordic Countries that might as well be called the Norwegian revenge made from usually cod, but any whitefish will suffice. This product is made by soaking whitefish in lye for just the right time without causing the fish-oil from breaking down into soap. Eating Lutefisk can be prepared in several ways, but a favorite meal is lutefisk with mashed peas and bacon.

Poi is a traditional dish that is made and eaten by the Hawaiian people that is made from the corm of the taro plant. The dish is pale purple in color looking much like black-raspberry ice cream. It can be cooked with many dishes and used as a substitute for milk with infants that have food allergies.

The Laurel Festival is an annual event held in mid-June at Winsted, Connecticut that lasts for three days culminating with the crowning of a laurel queen at the end of a parade down Main Street that is held in the Down East Park. The event started more then 75 years ago when the first laurel queen was crowned on top of Platt Hill in Winchester on land owned by Corny Johnson, a local farmer.

Highland Lake in Winsted, Connecticut is nestled in the Litchfield Hill of north western Connecticut making it a good travel destination and a place to fish. The lake has been surrounded by many high value houses since World War II and has become a favorite place to live for many people. Some of the many different breeds of fish that make the lake home include large and small mouth bass, brown and rainbow trout and many varieties of pan fish.

It has been discovered that Connecticut may be overdue for an earthquake as the result of some research conducted by earth scientists from Wesleyan University in Middletown that were looking for something else in their researches. It has been over 200 years since there has been a substantial earthquake in Connecticut, and the state is overdue for one.
